Some examples of psychological trauma include death threats, car accident, natural disasters, and sexual assault. Signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) include sleeping problems, irritability, anger, blackouts, phobia, nightmares, troublesome memories, and difficulty remembering things.

Postpartum Depression is characterized by a feeling of sadness or unhappiness after pregnancy. Some ways to help with Postpartum Depression is to get plenty of rest, get help with daily chores, and talk to someone about your feelings. Things that can increase a woman’s chance of depression are substance abuse, history of depression, anxiety, not enough support from family and friends, and marital or financial problems.

Depression is a state of feeling low and is characterized by symptoms of feeling sad or hopeless, loss of interest or pleasures, feelings of guilt, thoughts of suicide, and constant fatigue. Depression is related to a chemical imbalance in the brain and is known to be hereditary. The treatment of depression is done through medicine and/or counseling.

Bipolar Disorder (Mania) a.k.a manic-depressive illness is a disorder of the brain that causes unusual changes in the mood, energy, and activity levels. Symptoms include a feeling of worry, overly happy, irritable, agitated, loss of interest in activities, easily distracted, and/or restlessness. There is no cure for Bipolar Disorder (Mania), however, long term treatment is more effective if it is continuous.
