Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm is defined as a localized ballooning of the abdominal aorta(exceeding the normal diameter by more than 50 percent). Usually there are no associated symptoms and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm is not discovered until ultrasounds or a CT scan is produced. If an abdominal aneurysm ruptures it will cause back and abdominal pain and/or shock.
